Martin / de Vargas-looking for descendants
Antonio Matthias de Vargas from Faial, Azores, signed on to an American whaler, "Noble", around 1844 and headed to Antarctica. The ship was dismasted near New Zealand so came into Auckland for repairs and Antonio stayed in Auckland. He changed his name to Antonio Martin, married Agnes Fleming (arrived in Bay of Islands,NZ approx. 1839) and had 15 children, 14 of them surviving to adulthood. The second son and third child was my Gt,Gt grandfather, also called Antonio Martin. There are many descendants now all around the world but mainly in New Zealand and Australia.

Hi there,
your 2xgt grandfather Antonio and my great grandfather (Francis Martin) were brothers. Would love to see if you have found out any info on Antonio senior 😄
Cheers Carolyn
