- researching the possibility that this was Mary Gwynhilda Clough, daughter of Roger Salusbury Butler CLOUGH who was born in 1846 in Braunston, Northampshire (son of the Rev. Alfred Butler CLOUGH & Sarah LAMB) & Agnes Ellinor GEMMELL who married Roger in Newcastle in June 1876 and were in NZ by 1878 where they had 2 daughters:
1878 - Ellinor Isobel Clough
1879 - Gwynhilda Mary Clough (who may possibly be the one above)

Benjamin Francis Rothwell (1860-1924)
- married Henrietta Frances HILGENDORF (1867-1937) in 1891
- Henrietta was born in Waihola, Otago, the 2nd of 4 children of Charles Augustus Gustavas HILGENDORF (1835-1913) a German-born public works & mining contractor, and storekeeper & Elizabeth BENSTEAD, a governess
- a brother of Henrietta's was Dr Frederick William Hilgendorf (Teacher, lecturer, agricultural scientist)
- Henrietta was widowed in 1924 and travelled with her sister Elizabeth 'Lil' Mary Hilgendorf (1870-1953) in 1927 to Australia, South Africa, Rhodesia, the United Kingdom, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Palestine, Egypt and Ceylon

Edward Gamble Rothwell (1868-1952)
- married Mary Lillian LAXON (1890-1954) in 1908
- born in Whatawhata, Waikato, Mary was he 2nd of 5 children of William Donald LAXON (1852-1920) & Alice Maud FOLEY (1862-1928) who married in Mount Eden in 1852, died in Whatawhata and buried in Ngaruawahia
- Mary died 6 June 1954. She is buried Public Lawn Row A Plot 64, Birkenhead, Auckland

Richard Rothwell (1832-1900)
- arrived in Nelson in March 1843 (passenger list says aged 7 - born 1835) on the "Thomas Sparkes" with his parents Joseph (aged 38), Elizabeth (aged 35) and brothers Joseph aged 2 and James, an infant. He was a bullock-driver. In 1877 Richard was in Fourth Division of the Bridge Street School in Nelson (he came 1st in Class). His brother Joseph was in the Third Division and came 1st in Class. After some years he moved to Blenheim.
