Seeking information on WHITES, WILSONS and WITHEES.

Journal by madpostie

Hi, Chris White here. I emigrated to Australia in 1972 with my parents and brothers from the west coast of the USA.
I have had a lot of success tracing some lines of the family, for example all the way back to William Brewster from the Mayflower.(From my grandmother Withee's side.)
Please feel free to contact me for any information, or if you think you can help (or even correct me!)

Not familiar with Perth Water but have researched for 5 years in Perth. We traced my father James Alec Davies To Perth, where he served in the WW1 in Australian Army. He married a Veronica Robinson in July 1914 and they had a son born in Aug 1914! John Ellis Davies; He then was sent to England in the war and when he returned in 1919, his wife had apparently had affairs. Even so, they then had another son James Alec Davies born in 1921. After that, according to the divorce they obtained in 1924, things went from bad to worse with Veronica (she had since the marriage called herself Ivy Veronica). We found newsclippings in Trove describing various events.

My father, after the divorce had apparently gained custofy of the boys, but we then found him on a ship going to England with a passenger Ivy Knight. No children were with them. These two married in Paddington, London in 1925 the certificate said she had divorced her husband in Perth Wlliam Robert Knight .

Later in 1925 they were on a ship to Canada, they had left from the address of my dad's sister Alice Eva Zambra and her husband Marcus W Zambra(scientific instrument makers, appointed to the Queen.]

We have not been able to trace him in Canada from 1925 to 1940, when he married our mother in Norwich, Norfolk and it was stated he was a widower.

We knew nothing of his prior life in Australia and Canada or of his very influential family he had in England, where he was born (Liverpool). His father was a tea merchant.

We have wondered what happened to those two boys and their mother, who would all now of course be deceased. My sister and I live in Californis and took up genealogy when we retired. We have been so fascinated by the extent of info we found re our dad. He was the most loving and attentive father to us, he was 60 when my sister was born but we had no problems with that. We cannot believe he would leave two sons in another country and never mentioned any of this to us or our mum (she would have told us after he died, we feel sure.)

Notice you are researching WILSON. Ivy (whom my dad left Perth with for England in 1925) was Wilson before she married William Robert Knight!
