St Clair emigrated from Ireland to New South Wales, Australia

Journal by sommerled

James St Clair and Eliza Cullen were married in Limerick in 1850.

James St Clair (a policeman) and his wife Eliza emigrated from Galway in Ireland to Sydney in 1850 as assisted immigrants aboard the 'Kate'.

James's parents were George and Eliza St Clair who were living in County Clare in 1850.

Elizabeth's parents John and Margaret Cullen were living in Doonass at the time.

James had a cousin, George St Clair, living in Sydney in 1850. Elizabeth had a cousin, John Johnstone, also living in Sydney.

Herbert Richard Johnson married Elizabeth Jane St Clair in Gundagai in 1872. Was she a descendant of one of your St Clair families? Herbert was a son of Richard Johnson who emigrated as a boy with his father, also Richard Johnson (and several other family members) aboard the LAYTON in 1833.

Yes. James St Clair is Eliza's father.
See my journal "Looking for information about Richard Johnson, including ancestors and descendants'' re Herbert and Eliza.
