Sticklands/Stricklands originating in Dorset England

Journal by sylvimorgs

I have several generations of Stickland/Strickland ancestors originating from the area of Puddleton and Bere Regis in Dorset, England.

My Tree-times great grandfather John Strickland (Born 1830)came to Victoria Australia in the 1850s - married Emily Evans in 1858.
Have no certain confirmation of the ship or its date - any information would be very welcome, as would information about the Stickland/Strickland family in the Dorset region.

This Stickland/Strickland family is distinct from the Strickland family associated with the town of Great Strickland in northern England - many of that family emigrated to America.

Hi -

I have a Strickland family tree . We are of the Sizergh Castle Stricklands. Thomas Horneyold-Strickland is our relly. Does this resonate with you? Two Strickland boys sailed from sizergh to Australia and settled . I’m happy to chat.
