Walker

Journal by greenfieldjudy

Still looking for the illusive Beady Walker. Has to be ancestor to Jonathan Walker b. aby 1790 Ky d.1856 Dubois Co.,Indiana. parents probably born in N.C. Siblings Isaac who m. Susannah Risley,James, perhaps Benjamin. Were with him in Indiana. Also older family member Thomas. Not sure of how related. These men were all over southern Indiana counties. Jonathan m. Mary Polly Brenton in Perry Co.,In. Was Beady (?spelling, translation, white man's name, initials B.D. or ) Jonathan's father, grandfather or what other.
Beady Walker was an Indian, probably Cherokee, who was m. to a white woman. White man stole only horse,Beady found him,and as was the custom, killed the horse theif. White men followed Beady's pregnant wife as she was taking food to the hollow tree where Beady hid. Captured him,to him to the settlement, hanged Beady promptly.
Fact: Jonathan and his sons were very strong, induring, tall, strong, black haired, dark complexioned and brown eyes. Per records. Jonathan was championed bare fisted fighter,an early settler in southern Indiana, loved to fight, swam ice incrusted river, could not hold "liquor".
Fact: This writter knew Jonathan's grandaughter,Louisa Walker Hurt, sister to writer's g grandmother. She both looked and acted very Native American.
Fact. Story of Beady Walker handed down to this writters grandmother, great aunts,as well as Louisa Walker. Story has gone down at least 6 generations unchanged. This writters whole family was told =story.
Fact: Walker family was from N.C. and Ky. Areas where Cherokee Indians were and still are,as well as Tenn. Areas are also where tri racial Indians located. Indians hid from whites so they would not be moved, also to escape predgitous others. They merged with other races and tribes of the area or who were also in hiding. With such a terrible death, perhaps Beady's wife hid to protect her child/children. Perhaps children had children by others. Could be Eastern Blackfoot,Brass Ankles,Melungeon,OchianniIndians or even the Crotian Indians familier with the Lost Colony of Va. Some say that some of the tri racial Indians are the decendents of the Lost Colony and the Crotian Indians of that area.
Fact: Jonathan claimed to be of Scotch ethticity. Could this be his white female ancestor who married Beady Walker?
Fact: No idea how far back this occured. Can only trace back to Jonathan, this writter's ggg grandfather. How many generations back did Beady go. Could he have been here during early Colonial Days? Could have been in Va. or any of the earliest colonial times. Only census say where both Joanthan and his parents were born.
Must solve this mystery and prove this story.
