unclaimed urns at WAIKUMETE - B
READ PAGE A for information on what this posting is about.
Auckland Council provided Native Affairs with the names of the 1800 people but, as you will see at the above link, they do not contain any ages or other identifiable info, which is why I have expanded the list here to help you recognise any possible ancestors. Each and every person has been individually researched; using BDM, Papers Past, the cemetery database, family trees or any other means which revealed some of the names (spelling) or dates, differ slightly from the list - this is pointed out on each.
. NOTES .
* lack of time means I have not looked for all maiden names, nor to link all parents or partners, but will come back to edit from time to time.
* same surnames grouped together does not necessarily mean they were related.
* dates could be of death or burial
* my edits & additions will be obvious
* further info may be found Waikumete Cemetery on Find A Grave

* BRUCE, Margaret Inglis - 10 Dec 1931 aged 28
. daughter of William Bruce & Clara Southberg
Gisborne Times, 11 Dec 1931 Widespread regret will be felt at the death yesterday morning, at her parents' residence, 221 Harris Street, of Miss Margaret Inglis Bruce, only surviving daughter of Mr and Mrs W. D. Bruce. Born in Gisborne 28 years ago, the late Miss Bruce spent practically the whole of her life in this district. For some time past, she had enjoyed only indifferent health, this necessitating her retirement from active participation in social life. In her younger days she was an enthusiastic dancer and a keen sportswoman, while her interest in music made her one of the most popular members of any gathering in the social world. An old student of the Gisborne High School, she gave much practical assistance to the association and on occasions gave her services and invoked those of her fellow-members of a capable amateur orchestra in connection with the functions conducted by the organisation. Of an earnest and lovable nature, Miss Bruce had hosts of friends, who noted with grief her steady decline in health during recent months and hwo will share with Mr and Mrs Bruce a deep sense of loss occasioned by her passing. The bereavement of the parents is rendered more acute by the fact that Miss Margaret Bruce was the only surviving daughter, her elder sister having died some years ago.
