1803 Daniel Calladine, Framework Knitter of Heanor
I am the direct descendant (g3 grandson) of Daniel Calladine.
Daniel was born the second known child of Daniel Calladine (1775 ? 1860) and Elizabeth Brown(c1778 ? April 8, 1832) in 1803. Daniel Calladine Jr (16 on my ahnentafel) was born in the small town of Heanor in Derbyshire,
His father Daniel Calladine (32 on my ahnentafel) was also born in the small town of Heanor. His occupation on baptism records is a coal miner. His mother was Elisabeth BROWN.
Daniels baptism took place on October 25, 1803. His occupation on the census returns is a FWK ? (see FWK Journal) or Framework Knitter, an occupation almost unique to the counties of Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire.
Daniel was working in the golden age of framework knitters. He moved from Heanor, a mining town to Hatheren in Leicestershire, which had good railway links to all three large cities in the area.
P41 of the Marriages solemnized in the parish of Hathern in the county of Leicestershire in the year 1826.
Daniel Calladine, of this parish and Alice Millington of the parish of Darley in the county of Derby were married in this church by licence this fourteeth day of March in the year one thousand, eight hundred and twenty six by me, John Sealey, Curate.
Daniel Calladine, his mark, Alice Millington, Her mark., in the prescence of Saul Bird (his mark) and Thomas Gratton.
Alice was the daughter of John Millington of Hatheren and Catherine Shuttlewood of Selby Leicestershire. They had married on June 6, 1808, and Alice was baptised on the same day, with her twin brother William.
His son William Daniel Calladine (16 on my ahnentafel) was born there. With the death of his grandmother Elisabeth Calladine, (nee Brown) the family moved back to Heanor.
Elizabeth the second child was baptised on March 26, 1829 at Heanor St Lawrence.

Alice 38, (1803)
William (son) 16, (1825)
They are living next door to Daniel (father) Elijah (brother) and Jane Beswick (nee Brown Calladine, sister)
The 1851 census is interesting, the family have moved about a hundred yards up the road, and there is a mystery grandson that I have yet to identify. William is still at home, but not for long, as his visitor Emma Blyton, became his wife 27 days later.
