A Whole Lot of Lotts!
I am researching my Lott line of ancestry. I've been to John Barron's site and I have to say it is very wonderfully done and with such documentation and thought. But my Lott line is not there.
I am looking for the parents of Alice Artis Lott b. Lawrence Co., MS in 1860, she died in Winn Parish, LA in 1943.
Alice is my gg-grandmother. According to her death certificate her parents were John Lott and Mary Watts. According to other researchers, her parents were George Washington Lott and Mary Watts...but I disagree.
The family has always said that Alice's father was John Lott and Mary Watts, not to mention the death certificate that supports that info.
According to the 1860 Covington Co., MS Census it lists an "AA Lott" female, with a G.W. Lott which is George Washington Lott also with a "Mary". It doesn't make sense that this is her father, this is what's listed:
1860 Covington Co., MS Census, pg 00045:
Lott G W 35 M Farming 8,000 Miss
Lott Mary 30 F Miss
Lott M P 11 F Miss X
Lott T S 8 M Miss X
Lott J C 6 M Miss X
Lott J J 4 F Miss
Lott R J 2 M Miss
Lott A A 3/12 F Miss (listed with her brothers and sisters??but the G.W. is not her father. The family says that Alice was raised by her siblings after the passing of her parents.)
If anyone has any info at all on this bunch of Lotts please reply.
