Hi
If my reseach is correct I believe I am the great-great granddaughter of John Affleck and Jane Nicol. John and Jane had a son also called John. Family oral history had John going to Geelong Grammar and then droving sheep up into the Gulf. I can find records that he was in Burketown and Camooweal and also managing a property 'Avon Downs' (owned by the Guthrie Family) In 1891 he married Alice Connor (daugter of Mary and Jane Connor, Prospect-Terrace,South Brisbane) in a ceremony in Townsville. They lived at Burketown with Alice travelling down to Brisbane for the birth of each child including for the birth my grandmother Rene. They were in western queensland for a few years, before settling in Brisbane. My grandmother's sister was Marion Nicol Affleck which reconfirms the link.
I am interested to find out how you researched your information. If you have not already seen the following it may be of interest.

Avon Downs was owned by Thomas Guthrie, his wife was Mary Oliver nee Rutherford, sister to Catherine and Isabella. Her first husband was John Oliver he was an owner of Hynam Station ( Mosqito plains, very near Kybybolite). John Oliver was killed by Aboriginals.
Hoping that is of some interest.
Mary Oliver fascinates me, she was a true pioneer.
Cheers
