Alexander BEATTIE was born on 21 October 1833 in Errol, Perthshire, Scotland. He and his mother, Elizabeth (nee McNAB) came to Victoria in 1851. Meanwhile Jane ANDERSON, parents Andrew and Jean (nee WALLACE), brothers, William and Andrew, sister Janet, with her husband George PATULLO and their children, also came over to Victoria in 1851.

Alexander and Jane married at Campbellfield on 14 August 1854. They had 12 children:
1. Peter (8 March 1855 - 9 March 1912) married Annie CREIGHTON 15 March 1879 at Bundoora and they had 10 children.

2. Jane (10 Mar 1858 - 7 December 1936) married John Phillip SPRIGGS in Melbourne in 1882.They had 2 children.

3. Elizabeth (3 November 1860 - 31 July 1839) married Anton Herman Millar BERGER in 1882. They had 5 children.

4. (David) Alexander (11 September 1862 - 24 June 1954) married Annie Elizabeth SPRIGGS 15 July 1891 at Benalla. They had 10 children.

5. Andrew (2 October 1864 - 12 September 1943) married Elizabeth Ann ARGUS in 1906. They had 1 child, who only lived 6 days.

6. Margaret (21 August 1866 - 27 January 1958) married Simon HARKER in 1894. They had 6 children.

7. David (10 September 1868 - 8 July 1848) married Eliza Ann FORD 1 March 1898. They had 4 children

8. Jessie Patullo (15 July 1870 - 27 September 1957) never married.

9. Ellen Anderson (18 June 1872 - 1961) never married.

10. Agnes - there are no official records for Agnes though she is listed on both parents' death certificates.

11. Mary Anne (24 December 1875 - 7 July 1953) married William Arthur LENNIE on 30 October 1901 at Woodstock. They had 5 children.

12. Thomas (1877 - 1877) lived only 1 day.

Alexander and Jane lived at Medlands, Kalkallo and ran a dairy farm. They moved to the Devenish area in 1880.

Jane died 21 March 1888 and Alexander 29 December 1909.

I am writing a history about Jane and Alexander, their children, and grandchildren.
