Any Hakka / Chinese Hakka with surname Tai or Dai in USA or Panama?
Oral History from my paternal uncle is that my Great Grand father and his brother went to Panama in the late 1800s when the Panama Canal was being built.
Am wondering if there are any of their descendents there?

Hi Mr Tie
I am Gary Tai from Kuala Lumpur. I am a Hakka/Hokkien that speak hakka.
Just wonder you know anything about Tai / Dai ancestor in China and where they are from.
My grand father passed away long long ago and so is my father, and my uncle ( who was forced to construct rail road in Myanmar-Thai border )
Among our family, we still argue whether we are khek or hokkien, do you think you are a hokkien ? because most Dai are hokkien
hi there,
Read your comment about the Dai/ Tai surname descendant on this website written by felix tie.
Yes, I am of a Dai/Tai descendant ancestry of hakka and have been able to trace back my roots to china where my grandpa and great grandpa lived. Literally, Dai/Tai in chinese means "wearing a hat"
