From Batum ,now in Georgia on the Black Sea , Andon Agha Kapamadjian [Kapamaciyan in Turkish]
Born about 1785 with the to and fro of war's between Russia and Turkey our family was split between Georgia and Turkey , In 1824 A daughter married Boghos Bey Dadian , this turned our family fortunes ,Andon's Sons where sent to Manchester to Set up business to supply goods for the Dadian various business ventures , they arrived in MANCHESTER some time in 1838 and set up business and traded between various ports in Turkey , but when they entered England there Surname changed from the Western Armenian Kapamadjian to Capamagian , They were well known in Manchester and helped set up the Armenian church in Manchester , ill health took a serious toll on them , My grandfather Born in 1878 then changed his name from Antonie Capamagian
to Anthony Capper Magian , when My Father was born in 1922 he had the Capper dropped . In the late 1928 he started to look for family members But could not find any living , he had left his run to late to be able to pick up the pieces , And I am not aware that he new that he new the original family name . Kapamadjian , His father had passed away in 1892 and his uncle in 1899 And he was Brought up by a Nanny , His parents having T.B. lived in France due to the Climate , I believe that his mother had passed away about 1881 in Nice, France , and His father only returning on business matters , the last photo we have is 1886 with all three in the picture , There was also Hagop Hagop Capamagian who died in Chicago ,U.S.A. in 1877 His Son only 2 at this time returned to England , and then immigrated to New Zealand about 1900, I am in Contact with this family ,I have also found more family in America under the name kapamagian in Boston . They immigrated from Pera though Egypt to America , there are still more from Egypt in Australia now and they still retain the Kapamadjian surname , I am also in contact with them , and I am awaiting news from a Family in Brazil and one family in Switzerland , if you think you are family contact me .I am also trying to contact someone from the Kapamajian family in America as I believe they to are from our Family .
