*Evening Post, 26 Jan 1937 Practically instantaneous death followed injuries received by William Charles Avenell, a tailor, aged 24, of 10 Strathavon Road, Miramar, when his motor-cycle ckidded on wet bitumen in Moxham Avenue and struck a tramcar moving slowly in the opposite direction. His neck was fractured and he also received a fractured left thigh and right wrist. The pillion rider on the motor-cycle, H. N. Avenell, a brother of the deceased and also a tailor, was thrown from the machine, but suffered only minor injuries to his back and shoulder. He was taken by the Free Ambulance to hospital, but later returned to his home. The late Mr Avenell was a son of Major and Mrs W. G. Avenell. An inquest will be held
