on 23 April 2013 jillanddon asked:
I am researching ALGIE lines and want to know if anyone can help place where Ivan ALGIE 1914-2004 fits into the Alfredton ALGIE line. Also Olive Ruby ALGIE 1909-1989. Jill Stuthridge

hi jillanddon,
I believe that Ivan & Olive married some time after 1976
* Olive's first husband, Stan Malton, died in 1972
* Ivan's first wife, Rita Pearl, died in 1976
Olive's headstone reads: Olive Ruby, dearly loved wife of Stan, and Ivan Algie ...
* they are each buried with their first spouses
BUT, this is supposition, please leave a comment if you can help

Olive Ruby 'Ollie' HERRICK (1908-1989)
- was born 6 Nov 1908 in Carterton, was 1 if 10 children of Leonard Joseph Cecil HERRICK (1876-1928) & Caroline MARTIN (1879-1960), who lived in Palmerston North, Carterton & buried in Greytown

Olive Ruby Herrick married on 18 June 1930 in Greytown to:
Stanley Richard 'Stan' MALTON (1904-1972)
- born 27 April 1904 in Queensland, Australia, a son of David MALTON & Mary Elizabeth GAYFORD. His brother Francis Leslie 'Frank' Malton married Olive's sister, Linda Evelyn Herrick (1910-1989), in Martinborough on 11 Sep 1929 as his 2nd wife

Olive is buried Grave 12, Plot 14, Block 4 at Mangatainoka, Pahiatua with Stanley Richard MALTON
HEADSTONE READS: In loving memory of Stanley Richard Malton, dearly loved husband of Olive, passed away 20th Sep. 1972, aged 68 years. At rest. Olive Ruby, dearly loved wife of Stan and Ivan Algie (1914-2004), passed away 19th April 1989, aged 80 years. At rest.

Hello jillanddon
This message is to confirm that ngairedith is correct. Olive Malton(nee Herrick) married Ivan Algie. I knew both families in Pahiatua. My mother was at school in Greytown with Olive Herrick and I was at school in Pahiatua with her daughter and Ivan Algie's son.
