I am trying to trace the ancestors of George Barnes who maried Elizabeth Jackson. They lived in the Eastern Cape, Queenstown area or Grahamstown? They in turn had a son George Barnes who marries Maud Tarr.

Hi rayl,

Don't know if you have had any luck. I am looking for a Christopher Barnes who was from Queenstown and was married to/or partner of an Annie Barrett. She gave birth to my grandfather circa 1904/7. The writing on the birth certificate is rather dull. I have reason to believe that my grandfather was adopted after something might have happened to/or between Christopher and Annie. Any light you can throw onto the subject matter will be appreciated.

Apologies for the delay in responding. The only Annie I have come across was Annie Murray in Graaf-Reinett not sure if there may be a connection?
