Hi, I don't know if I have contacted you before. I am in Australia and Charles Bowering and Elizabeth Pittard were my ggrandparents.
They had 2 girls Rosina June b1856 in Bristol and Alice b.1855 in Bristol. They then came to Australia, both the girls died in 1858 and are burried in Geelong. Charles, a bootmaker settled in a shop in Geelong, Victoria. They then went on to have another 11 children. I haven't been able to find anything regarding Charles before he came to Australia. hope this helps. Yvonne

Hi Yvonne, I haven't done any family tree research for sometime. My maiden name was Bowring. I would have to revisit my notes etc to tell you more than you already know??
My grandfather was Charles Bernard Bowring, his father was Charles Edmund Bowring & his father was Charles Bowering. That would make him my great great grandfather. He must have dropped the 'e' when he migrated? The following is what I had written in our family tree back when?
"Charles Bowring 23(spelt Bowering in the records) married Elizabeth Pittard 18 at St James, Bristol, England January 30, 1854
At the time of their marriage their residence was Harford St.
Their children were Alice, Rosina, Alfred & Charles Edmund.
Charles Bowering was a shoemaker. His father was also Charles Bowering & Elizabeth's father was James Pittard. These gentlemen were also shoemakers."
