Burman family - whitechapel 1841

Journal by moosie26

I have been researching my family and have got as far as Abraham Burman - born approx 1814 possibly in Kelvedon Essex or Braintree, as entered in the 1851 & 1861 census.

In 1841 census he was living in Whitechapel with his wife Maryann and 1 son 2 daughters. They then moved to Ipswich in Suffolk

He was a tailor and the address in Whitechapel was mainly made up of Jewish people.

What I would like to find out is his birth details and whether he was from Jewish origin. He had all his children baptised so this doesnt tie in.

I would be grateful if anyone has any info :)

Hi,

The baptism record below maybe of some interest. Although the baptism is in Suffolk it shows in the notes that the birth was possibly Essex. Also the parents names are the same as two of the children as shown in the 1851 census. Worth a look anyway and may possibly give you something to further your research.
