? George Paull HOATTEN (1848-1921) (Chairman)
- lost his left hand in 1895 in a chaff-cutter accident at Newlands. In 1897 George was the Canterbury Representative of the Llewellyn's Bee Ointment, produced by Edwin Gallichan at Ashurst. By 1904 he was in South Australia where he had his own bee ointment formula and the name was changed to Hoatten's Bee Ointment. George died in South Australia

... Mr D. A. Taylor presided. Mr Manchester moved - "That a vote of thanks be recorded on the minutes in fabour of the late head master, mr J. C. Adams (now of Normal School, Christchurch), for the painstaking way he had worked up the school and as showing the householders' appreciation of his many qualities as a teacher of the Waimate School".
