Captain Poole of Dublin, Ireland

Journal by gelin5

My POOLE ancestor was Mary Anne POOLE born around 1807 in Ireland. She married Henry JOYCE in Dublin in about 1830 and migrated with Henry to Tasmania in 1833. I believe her father was a certain "Captain POOLE" in the British Army, possibly stationed in Dublin. Years ago I was in contact with a man named Poole from New South Wales, Australia who told me that he thought this Captain Poole had settled around Campbelltown, N.S.W. and that his descendants are still living around Campbelltown. (But this information about Captain POOLE might have been a mistake or just a guess.) He also told me that the Pooles from Ireland (or at least some of them) were descended from Palatine Germans who had settled in Wexford, Ireland, as religious refugees in the 1700's. I would like to make contact with anyone who has any information about this Captain Poole. Also, there was a man named Nathaniel POOLE who lived in the small Tasmanian town of Deloraine in the early 1800's, around the same time that Mary Anne Poole was there. I wonder if he was related to Mary. My email address is my user name at yahoo (dot) com.
