Hello everybody. I am Travis Chapell ( will explain later spelling) and I am trying to research my family tree of CHAPPELL ancestors. The last known ancestor I have is a JOHN WESLEY CHAPPELL born 1857 in Pickens Co, SC and died 27 Mar 1916 in Greenville, Greenville Co., S.C. He married a Sarah Ellen Dodson; born b. 19 Oct 1854 in Pickens Co, SC. they both are buried in Mile Creek Baptist Church, Six Mile, Pickens Co, SC.
I have been told that his parents are JOHN CHAPPELL & ABIGAIL BOREN/BOWEN however at this time I can not get it verified anywhere. This is my "brickwall" on my family and would like to continue goiong further back into time.
I have had in my possession for about 13 years a CHAPPELL family file; however I have yet to be able to find a link into it.
The most I can tell from looking at my research; my line of CHAPPELL ancestors were in UPSTATE SOUTH CAROLINA & in NORTH CAROLINA.

Now with reguards to the way my last name is spelled; it is spelled this way do to an ARMY error from when my father went into the service. U.S. Army is concidered a legal way of changing names. Unfortunately in trying to research ones surname it becomes difficult to do with the misspellings.
