Charlotte McKOy

Question by Amii

Any information regarding Charlotte McKoy married to Albert McKoy died 1910 Taranaki please?
Would love to locate a photo of her and or photo/information about her son William McKoy and daughter Ivy Elizabeth married John Billing.
I am the daughter of Grace Evaline. When Charlotte died Albert Re married and then his new wife died too. All the children were adopted out in 1912 to different families and lost contact.

Thanks Andrea Green

Death would suggest marriage was between 1900-10

Death
Name: Charlotte McKoy
Birth Date: abt 1884
Death Age: 26
Death Date: 21 Aug 1910
Burial Place: New Plymouth, Taranaki, New Zealand
Cemetery: Te Henui

This could be the marriage:
New Zealand, Marriage Index
Name: Charlotte Hodson ** maiden name b about 1884
Gender: Female
Marriage Year: 1907
Relation: Bride
Spouse: Edward Albert McKoy
Folio Number: 2605

by familydetective on 2015-08-24 17:24:49

From NZ birth index
Name: Charlotte Hodson
Birth Date: Jan-Feb-Mar 1885
Registration Place: New Plymouth, New Zealand
Folio Number: 249

I assume that if you got a copy of the birth cert it would give parents names

Hello and thanks to those who have been helping.....
Great to have the Folio numbers and cemeterys thanks....

I do have the birth/death dates for Charlotte and the Tree of her relatives but its that of her children (apart from Grace Evaline) that Im missing.
Id thought if I could find some later relatives (adoptive families) of Ivy and William they may be able to tell me more about what happened to them as children

Ivy Elizabeth McKoy married Billing..(Albert or John)..
Id like to find direct descendants of William McKoy born 1909 New Plymouth died 1960
and who adopted him when he was 3yrs old.
Good idea to send for the birth certificates of those two....thanks I will do that.
regards
Andrea

Hello Jeanette...we must be cousins then!
My mother talked often of Leonard your grandfather.
What I have now found out is this:
Leonard was Charlottes son and she already had him when she married Edward Albert
(my grandfather)Then she had Ivy Elizabeth M Billing Grace Evaline (my Mum) William (whose family I would love to get in touch with).
Charlotte died of Peritonoitis and was pregnant at the time.
Edward Albert remarried again and had more children with his 2nd wife. So according to what I know, Charlotte was Edwards first wife.
so my mother and your grandfrather were half brother and sister.
I havre a photo of yoru grandfather when he was around 15 yrs old in a rugby team. Do you have a copy of that?
Did your grandfather have any photos of his Mother Charlotte? I would so love to see what she looked like.
Did your parents ever tell you any history of Leonards childhood?
I was told by my mother that Len was taken in by the Hodson grandparents.
My mother was adopted out to an old couple in Hastings.. She didn't have much of a life. The adoptive mother was a tyrant from what I heard. The father a sweetie.
If you or your parents have any history of his life as a child especially before Charlotte died it would be so cool to hear.

Thanks so much for all that typing! Its filled in a lot of gaps for me.
If there's anything I could provide you with please ask? where are most of Leonards family living? Could you find out from any family members if Leonard ever kept in touch with William Francis? Apparently William tracked down Grace (my Mum) in 1962 to Rotorua but died before he made contact with her. very sad for my Mum.

Will talk again if suits?
regards Andrea

Hi Andrea
Its been a while since we spoke
I have been a bit slack on tracking this. I have yet to find a photo for Charlotte Hodson McKoy but have done a little delving and find Charlotte was the first wife of Edward and Gladys being the second, died on 27 March 1928 - a mistake I make in my entry to you. I have sent an url to direct you to hers and Edwards tombstone.

My email is hikairo001@gmail.com
I would love to catch up to fill in some gaps. It was a bit disappointing to find after all my searching that the McKoy line was not in effect mine by blood and that I really should have been following the Hodson line. Do you have any information on how Leonard came about. Obviously he was the product of some premarital alliance. I have an Aunt and Uncle surviving (my fathers siblings, and will endeavor see if any of them have history. I know Rachel Trevithick - Shirley McKoys daughter was doing some genealogy as well.
