Children of William McLeod/Mary Urquhart, Kilmachalmag, Kincardine, Ross-shire

Query by Palmer2

Hi, I am researching my gg grandfather's siblings, his name is Hector McLeod born c.1838, the son of William and Mary McLeod, Ross-shire. The only ones I don't seem to be able to find are:

1. JAMES born 1829 Kincardine R&C (not present 1841/51/61 SCT Census) I presume he died young but haven't found his death.

2. ISABELLA (Bella) born c.1840 Kincardine R&C (not present 1841/51 SCT Census)

3. CATHERINE Born c. 1847 Kincardine R & C (present 1851, not present 1861 SCT Census)

4. WILLIAM born 1834 Kincardine R&C (not present 1851/61 SCT Census)

I'm trying to ascertain if William, Isabella and Catherine came out to NZ in early 1860's with other siblings that settled in the Otago area, or married and remained in Scotland.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I am off to Scotland soon and was searching Kilmachalmag and came across your message.

My GGgrandmother was Christina McLeod of Kilmachalmag born 1831, but her father was Alexander McLeod born 1800. His grave is in the graveyard in a neighbouring town.

Christina came to Australia in 1848 with a Sally and Peggy McLeod (Margaret) whom was her sister, but I do not know how the Sally she was 13 years older, so maybe a cousin. She did have an older Sister also Bella, but I have born in 1826, and then a younger half silbing William born 1847.

I would be interested if you have any information on siblings of your William as maybe he is brother to my Alexander.

Anyway, your message of old so maybe you are not on this site anymore, but happy to exchange more details on what I have. Oh the census, have you sited actuals for this area. Ancestry do not have images, I am guessing I would have to go to the public records office in Scotland.
