My family was from Pike Co., Kentucky moving to Indiana and Iowa and now about anywhere. Descendants of Peter Coleman whose will was probated in Grayson County Virginia in 1808. Many Colemans still live in Pike County Ky., I understand. University of Kentucky has a copy of the genealogy book "Abraham Coleman: his descendents and friends" Or, something like that. It is the closest that I can come from memory. It was published by the Pike County historical society. Maybe it can help with any KY. relatives. Peter Coleman owned a farm and mill in Rowan Co., NC, but I do not know of any Cherokee connection.

Although I have not researched them, I understand that some descendants of Peter moved South and into Tennessee, Alabama, and Texas. Poereader
