Complicated Gibbons

Journal by ianhudson31

On my Grandmother's Birth Certificate (1888) her farther was named as John William Cove Gibbons - Occupation Actor. Her mother Margaret Hannah Gibbons, formerly Mewburn.

At an early date grandma was adopted by a family called Scaife.

And that's it folks

I have looked in every Census, IGI, Births, Deaths and Marriages records but can find no trace of them.

I will update this journal whenever I find anything.

WISH ME LUCK - On this one I need it

Have you become a RootsChatter and posted lookup requests?

Have you checked out the Genforums? SCAIFE Family Genealogy Forum. There is generally a genforum for most surnames but not all.

Do you have your family tree online anywhere?

Have you looked at RootsWeb ? Particularly the Family Trees (World Connect) areas.

EDITOR.

PS Regarding your comment at the bottom of a link on the HUDSON surname, I have found more often than not that women's maiden names appeared as middle names in successive generations.
