COSTIGAN Michael Joseph c.1833 Tipperary. My G.Grandfather.
Michael Joseph (1) and wife Mary Frances (Donoghue) Costigan
originally from County Tipperary, Ireland, set off on the Prince Consort on 13.12.1863 in search of a fresh start in a new land - Australia.

They were accompanied by their infant son John Thomas Costigan and Mary?s sister Catherine Donoghue. Catherine (Kate) had been a witness at their wedding in Islington, and was also the Informant on my Grandfather William Martin Costigan?s birth certificate when the family was living in North Ipswich in May 1866.

The ?Prince Consort? left the East India Docks London on 13th December 1863, arriving in Hervey Bay on Wednesday 30th March 1864.
