Cox connection from Blount Co. Al to Georgia

Journal by lkcreagan

My ggrandfather was William Barton Cox, b. 1861 in Georgia, and died at age twenty six in Blount County, Alabama. We know from the two census he is listed on that his father and mother were from Georgia and that he had one brother J.B. Cox and three sisters, but no parents are listed with the children. If anyone has any info. it would be appreciated.

William since my posting I have found out that William "Bart" Cox's parents were Issac Bryant Cox, born 1815, N.C. and Nancy Jammerson, born 1829, Georgia. His parents were Zachariah Cox, born 1788, N.C. and died Gordon Co. Georgia 1860. His wife was Grizzle ?, born 1796, N.C. Zachariah is first found in Upson Co. in the late 1820's. He received land in the lottery. We know he was in Georgia by 1819, as his second child Emily was born then in Georgia. I have found most of Issac B. brothers and sisters. He was the oldest, followed by Emily who married John Caldwell, Elenor F. born, 1822, no husband found, Angeline, b. 1825, married James B. Lynch, Isaiah, born 1827, married Sally McDermott, Julia, b. 1830 married 1. J Aumpaugh, 2.John McVay, and last twins Cleadus and Sicasy, born 1933, only found them once on a 1850 census. There are other Cox families in the area, but do not know if they are part of the family. I have found Zachariah Cox in Pitt Co. on a War of 1812, but not sure if it is my Z. Cox, but there is an Absolam and Charles on the same role and the same to are found in Upson Co. during the land lottery.
