Press (Christchurch paper), 22 September 1894 Robert Henry Crocker was charged with failing to contribute to the support of his six children. It was stated that he had been committed for trial at Masterton on two charges of burglary. The Court now made a formal order that he should pay his wife 10s a week
Star, 18 January 1898 Robert Henry Crocker was charged on remand with failing to comply with an order of the Court to pay 10s a week towards the support of his wife. The order had been made in 1894. Accused was then in the North Island. No money had been received by the wife since the order was first made, neither had he written, and she had been in receipt of charitable aid for some considerable time. Accused stated that he had been in gaol for a considerable part of the time he had been away, and that the maintenance order had not been served upon him; but the contrary was proved, and he was sentenced to six month's imprisonment with hard labour

Rachael Crocker (nee Chapman) was married to a Robert Henry Crocker, but not the one listed above. Her husband Robert Henry Crocker was born in Nelson to Robert and Isabella Crocker (nee Connell) in 1855, he died 1918 and is buried in Park Island Cemetery, Napier. There are references in Papers Past to Robert in Court cases.
