Hello Gavin Dawson,
I am a descendant of Col Thomas Dawson born Sep. 16, 1762 at Dawson's Grove and his wife, Elizabeth Frances Tate, born September 12, 1768. They left Ireland for Prince Edward Island, Canada, with their children.
I am searching for any information on his family history. I am told his father is Samuel Dawson of Dawson's Grove.
Do you know anything about him?
Thanks,
Shelley Botelho
Responding to Gavin Dawson:
My ancestor was Margaret Dawson who married George Beatty in about 1811 in Ematris, Monaghan. You mention having other trees. Do you have anything which mentions a Margaret. I suspect that her father or grandfather may have been Lancelot Dawson.
Thank you,
Glenda Mattes
Hi Glenda,
I have a Lancelot Dawson, who died in 1781. He was from the parish of Killyman in Co Tyrone. He had three sons, Samuel (1764-1786), William (1766-1847) and Richard (1769-?). The first two were buried in Killyman. I have no other details. I believe there was a relationship between my Dawsons and the Monaghan Dawsons, but the evidence is circumstantial, so I cannot be certain.
I have a Margaret born in Co Monaghan in 1785, the daughter of Richard Thomas Dawson MP and Catherine Graham. However she died in 1832 and as far as I know, she did not marry.
Afraid that’s not much help, but good luck with your research.
Keith Dawson
