Descendents of JOHN JAMES STANAWAY?

Journal by freedomkiwis

I have the book Tides of Time, John James Stanaway that was compiled by Merv Marinner and his wife in the early 80's.
At the time it was a soft cover book but absolutely huge so wasn't lasting very well.
I pulled mine apart and got copies done for each of my kids and had the hard cover bound. They now look awesome.
If anyone out there would like a copy please feel free to contact me and I'll start looking into what it will cost to get them printed.

I'm happy just to cover printing costs and postage to you. You will find that quite a bit unfortunately as the book weighs a ton and ends up the size of a rheam of copy paper and just as heavy.
I have added pages to it also, those that I've been aware of anyway.

The only people not in it will be those born after 1980 I think, apart from my additions.

Look forward to helping you all with your research.

Dear Wendy, I'd be interested in receiving a quote for one book please, and I'm in Australia.

Dear Wendy, I'd also be interested in receiving a quote for one book please, and I'm in Kaeo, North Island, NZ.

Hi Wendy,
This Is Monica,
How did you get on with your quote for duplicates of
"TIDES OF TIME" ?

by freedomkiwis on 2011-05-12 16:39:04

Hi Monica
I haven't managed to do it yet as I'm having trouble locating the book. I've got the bound copy but its the original pulled apart one I need to get the quote done as I don't want them pulling apart my bound one.
Still have it my mind and am keeping a look out for it.
I know I stored it in a safe place but it's so safe I can't remember where it is, so apologies to everyone of you who are waiting on me.

If by chance you manage it i would be really interested in 2 copies of this book! my mother in law has the binded paper copy and it is in terrible condition and i would love a copy too! please help if you can. I am in Australia and very keen!

by freedomkiwis on 2012-01-12 00:48:01

Okay folks, sorry its been so very long since I was here last. I am now in a position to actually look for a book binder and get that promised quote for you. Have been travelling around the country the last 2 yrs so haven't stopped anywhere long enough to get onto it.
Have now stopped so will start looking into it all again.
If you would all like to email me at ultim8living@xtra.co.nz with your names and addresses (so I can also include postage costs in the quote. It's very heavy) and how many books you might be looking at (subject to cost of course) then I can try and go for a discount for when I get the printing down. I plan to contact lots of family I know and get final numbers before going for a quote.
Look forward to hearing from you all.

Happy 2012 everyone.

Hi all
Could all of you here that would like copies of the book, please email me your telephone number (don't forget the country code too if your not in NZ) and I will phone you re pricing and options etc.
My email is above but again it's ultim8living@xtra.co.nz
Unless I get a telephone number and an email I won't be printing cos these are not going to be cheap.
I will be seeing a printer in Wellington in two weeks and will know how much at that point.

Hi there

Having sourced costs etc to duplicate the family tree book, it is going to be extremely un-economical with it being so large and over 500 pages so I am now starting to put together an electronic version instead, which also means I can update it as I go as well.
This will be a very time consuming process but since enquiries for the book are heavy I am willing to do it.

Please let me know if you are still interested in an electronic version of "Tides of Time. Captain JJ Stanaway"?

If you'd like to also pass my details onto any other family members who may be interested, then I can add them to the list also.

I'm not sure what the cost will be until I've finished it but will let everyone know. It certainly won't be like the hard copy which was going come in at over $400. Electronic version will be less than $100 but an extremely large file and will be sent out to everyone on a USB.

Look forward to hearing from anyone who wants to go on the final list. You can email me at freedomkiwis@xtra.co.nz

Have decided based on the amount of work involved that the price for the electronic version that will come out to you on a USB drive, will be $69.00 NZD plus postage and handling.

I aim to have it completed by end of May. If you have any info you'd like to include in the updated version (eg children, grandchildren, deaths etc) please email me with the details.
Thank you.

No not too late, I'm waiting a little while before doing the final copy to give people a chance to get info to me. I want to be putting it all together by Mid May, so need info all in to me by then.

Can you tell me if the Puru family are in this book? I am trying to apply for scholarships. So need to know exactly where I come from so I can widen my search criteria.

by freedomkiwis on 2012-05-06 20:31:39

Yes there are some Puru's in the book. You can email me direct if you like at freedomkiwis@xtra.co.nz with specific names and I'll look at them for you.

New Tides of Time - Captain John James Stanaway is now being updated. You still have time to get any new information in to me. Any births, deaths marriages etc since 1983.
I'm making the cutoff date the end of July and gorgous hard bound books with gold lettering will be $225 NZD each. Plus postage
To give you an idea of the size of these books, they are the size of a ream of copy paper and over 400 pages.
They will be printed to order so that your particular section can have blank pages added so you can continue to update as your families grow.

If you'd like to be on the list to receive the updated book, please email me at freedomkiwis@xtra.co.nz

thanks
Wendy
