A friend [no computer]would like to know who her grandfather was.
Her mother died in 1917 and was Josephine Shaw and her mother was called Josephine Forman {foreman ] Shaw. She brought my friends mother from Scotland To New Zealand when she was a 2 year old.
She says her grandmother was quite young when her daughter was
born
On her birth certificate it said father unknown so she has no known relatves at all. Her mother was born in Ednborough

From above I read that your friends mother was Josephine Shaw who was born in Scotland daughter of Josephine Foreman. Josephine Shaw also had a child born in Scotland but Josephine Shaw died in Scotland in 1917. Josephine's mother Josephine Foreman migrated to NZ with Josephine Shaws child (your friends mother). Is it possible to let us know the Childs name that came to NZ as a 2-year-old. If she was 2 and the mother Josephine Shaw died in 1917 she must have arrived in NZ before 1920.

Josephine Margaret is my friend'smother and she was born in 1817 and died in 1915 at 98. Sorry my friend mixed up the date.
Josephine Foreman married someone ? Falk.
We don't know if it was before she left Scotland or after she cane to NZ

Josephine Foreman Shaw married Colin Meridith McKay Falk 1919 in Morningside Edinburgh, Scotland. There is a MRS J F Falk and unnamed 11month infant arriving Wellington on the Corinthic 23 September 1919. Josephine Foreman Shaw (Falk) died on 29 March 1930. She is buried in Masterton. Her headstone indicates she was 38 at death but BDMNZ online records her as 34.
Colin Meridith McKay Falk was born in Masterton 20 December 1892 and was serving in Europe during WWI. He was a returning soldier to NZ. His military service record states he returned to NZ on the Corinthic in 1919. Colin remarried after the death of Josephine. In 1932 he married Ellen Monica Collins. They had 4 children. He died in Masterton on 24 August 1940.
