Elizabeth Caroline GAZZARD was born in 1868 in Poplar, Greater London, England
She arrived in New Zealand as a 6 year old with her parents Jesse GAZZARD & Sarah Ann WHITMORE and sister Charlotte Elizabeth Gazzard on the DOUGLAS in 1874
The family settled in Taueru, a settlement 10km west of Masterton on the Castlepoint road

Elizabeth marrid Alexander Alfred BURLING at Taueru
They lived there until 1914 when they moved to Kaituna.
She was a maternity nurse in Masterton and Palmerston North, retiring at the age of 84.
She returned to Masterton where she died in 1963
She is buried in the Archer St Cemetery

Alexander was a son of Alfred John Burling Westham, Stratford, England & Mary GAFFNEY of Armagh, Ireland

1886 Eliza Caroline Lilian Burling
- Eliza died in Masterton in 1897 aged 11

1897 Alexander Alfred Jessie Burling
- Alexander married Catherine Mabel BUDD in Masterton in 1920
- he died in Tinui in 1961 aged 64

1898 Alfred William Burling
- Alfred died as an infant in 1898

1898 Flora Edith Sarah Burling
- Flora married Claude Peachey JARRETT in Masterton in 1920
- she died in Masterton in 1984 aged 86

1902 Ruth Alice Mary Burling
- Ruth married Francis Lot CROSS in Masterton in 1920
- she died in Masterton in 1922 aged 20
- Francis remarried in 1923 to Mary Ellen BREWER

1906 Charlottle Elizabeth Ruby Burling
- Charlotte married Frederick Ernest COLLIS in Levin in 1923
- she died in 1963 aged 56
