... born in 1912 to Percival Jaspers & Maggie Murray, Joseph Thomas Jaspers. a Truckdriver, was caught in the belting of the stone-crushing plant in Waihopai riverbed. Mr Joseph Thomas Jaspers, a married man, aged 30, of Nelson, suffered fatal injuries. The accident occurred at knock-off time on Saturday after the engine had been actually turned off. Mr Jaspers fell against the main belt and the last revolutions of the machinery dragged him round, inflicting terrible leg injuries. He died shortly afterwards in the Tairau Hospital
