Note: John "Irvin" Engle. Irvin Engle left the Mount Airy NC area and went to Ohio, and Indiana, as a result of a murder. Family story is that there was an incident between Irvin Engle and some other men which may have resulted in the death of a man. Allegedly the men were attacking Irvin Engle and he hit one man in the head and left him for dead. He left immediately (one source said on a "mule train to Ohio")and ended up in the Dayton Ohio area before moving to Indiana.

I think there is really a need to preserve our history because it is reported that the Department of Education recently found in its examination of public school students that more 4th grade pupils were proficient in U.S. history than high school seniors. I read this here: Most American students not proficient in American history.
