Hello, I am a grandson of KENNETH LESLIE ELDON BUDDEN, 19/2/1911 - 8/8/1993.
Father: Francis William Budden
Mother: Maud Christina Chillcott
Death: Rodwell, Weymouth Dorset
Baptism: Winfrith-Newburgh, Dorset
My parents are: John Kenneth Budden and Sydney Alison Bond.
I am researching my family tree and was surprised to learn my grandfather had a brother and would like to know more about Eric, to confirm if he is by grandfathers brother. I am interested in learning more about his death in New Zealand, as this is where I was born and grew up.
I would also like to know more about my grandmother, Helen Rosemary Anderson, who married my grand father at St Clements Church 14/2/1938/1939(?:tbc), St Clements Rd, Poole BH12 4PE, United Kingdom. They lived in Jersey, CI. My parents also met in Jersey, before relocating to New Zealand in the 1960's...

I looked up your great uncle Eric - there wasn’t a lot about him but From accessing the probate record that was in an Ancestry family tree where it said he dies at sea I found a document on the FIndMyPast site that he died at sea of Heart Failure in Feb 1955. I think the boat was the Ruahine and was either coming from or going to the UK. Initially I did look up the NZ BDM to see where he was buried but of course there was no entry for him but one for his wife. It appears he may have been married twice but I can explore that further if you like. I have access to the document from FMP and could send you a copy. There may be more information about him on Ancestry on electoral records - I noticed his last address was Eastbourne NZ ... we used to go there often in the 50s for a swim and a picnic!

I have found some information about his parents, but that is where my information finishes. As they were in the United Kingdom, I do not know if you have any information about Eric's grandparents?
I'll have another look on this website now and see if I can find anything.
Do you have any information regarding Mary Rose Rowley (nee Mathias)? She married John Cotton Rowley and they lived in Hawea, Central Otago. My grand father Herbert Spencer Cotton Rowley was on Cocos Keeling Island at the beginning of WWI and
played a small part in the SMS Emden v HMAS Sydney Battle of Cocos Islands. It's been great researching this event as there are plenty of short films on youtube and plenty of info on Wikipedia. I have also made contact with a relative of the leader of the landing party, Hellmuth von Mücke. His name is also Michael and Hellmuth was his Great Uncle. It will be great to meet him next time he visits Zurich, Switzerland, where I currently live. I never thought my ancestors would have such a rich history!
