Hello Kellym, Could you tell us in which country or if you don't know, which country the children were born in.

by Kellym on 2011-04-05 21:22:53

Sorry, they were based in New Zealand. I'm guessing they were born here too.

Thank you kellym,I found this on a tree with very few details and no sources but may be related to your question.
Francis Joseph KERR born in 1881 and died 1951. In 1902 he married Esther Lucy SMITH 1882-1947 daughter of George Henry Bennett Smith 1864-1926 and Sarah SHERRIG whom he married in 1882.
the only children I can find between Francis and Esther were:-
Eva Josephine Kerr 1902 ?
Bernardine Kerr 1904 ?
Mary Frances Kerr 1904 ? married Edward George SMITH
Rose Agnes Kerr 1906 ?

Esther Lucy SMITH's syblings were:-
Esther Lucy smith 1882 ? 1947 William George smith 1884 ?
Eva smith 1885 ? Rosanna smith 1890 ?
Malcom smith 1895 ?

No doubt one of the many New Zealand researchers in here will be able to find more details.

Thank you Janilye, it's given me more info and matched what I already have. Great.
I think there was a spelling mistake it's SHERRY not SHERRIG, although I don't know where she or George SMITH come from.
And I have no information on Francis' parents except it's James and Mary.

Sorry, Yes it could be SHERRY, she came from Belfast. No other info.

I did some checking on George Henry Bennet Smith, he was actually born in Seddon, New Zealand in 1863 His parents were William John SMITH who was born in Cheshire, England in 1836 and died on the 22 Nov 1912 in Kaikoura, New Zealand. He married Esther Martha HAYCOCK who was born in Adelaide, Australia in 1845 her father was John HAYCOCK from Montgomeryshire, England and her mother was Elizabeth BURLES don't know where she came from. William John SMITH and Esther Martha HAYCOCK were married in Adelaide, Australia in 1845 the children of this marriage were:-
Emily Jane SMITH b: 2 Apr 1880/1882 in Kaikoura, New Zealand.
John SMITH b: 15 Jun 1862
George Henry Bennett SMITH b: 1863 in Seddon, New Zealand
Herbert SMITH b: 1867 in Seddon, New Zealand
William Arthur SMITH b: 1871 in Haupuku, Kaikoura, New Zealand
Thomas Albert SMITH b: 1875 in Haupuku, Kaikoura, New Zealand
Henry Robert SMITH b: 1878 in Kaikoura, New Zealand.
Lascon Samuel SMITH b: 1883 in Kaikoura, New Zealand.
Allan SMITH b: 1885 in Kaikoura, New Zealand.

I also found a LYDIA child of George Henry Bennett SMITH and Sarah SHERRY which makes all the children I have found:-
Esther Lucy SMITH b: 1882 in Kaikoura, New Zealand. d:1947
William George SMITH b: 1883
Lydia SMITH
Eva SMITH b:1885
Roseanna (Rose) SMITH b:1890
Malcolm SMITH b:1895

Then I had another dig around for more children of Frances Joseph KERR and Esther Lucy SMITH and came up with all these names in total:-
Eva Josephine KERR, Mary Frances KERR, Rose Agnes KERR,
Bernadine KERR, Eileen Joyce KERR, Kathleen Olive KERR,
Francis Joseph KERR, Bridget KERR, Patrick Bernard KERR,
Thomas Owen KERR
I haven't been able to find anything on Frances Joseph KERR.

Please excuse the typo.=Francis Joseph KERR. So they had 7 girls and 3 boys. I don't have birth dates. You can do that bit. Hope this gives you a few hints. Jan
