- The friends of Mr. John Fahey, grocer, of South Fremantle, are respectfully invited to follow the remains of his late dearly beloved daughter, Miss Catherine Fahey (Pearl), to the place of interment, the Roman Catholic portion of the Fremantle Cemetery. The funeral is appointed to leave his residence, No. 301 High-street, Fremantle, THIS (Wednesday) AFTERNOON, the 13th inst., at 3 o'clock.

FAHEY - The late Miss Catherine Fahey (Pearl), eldest daughter of Mr. John Fahey, South Fremantle, died on the 11th inst., at her father's residence, High-street, Fremantle. The deceased was a pupil of St. Joseph's Convent School, Fremantle, and all her school "mates" - about 200 girls, dressed in white - attended the funeral. The lengthy cortege, headed by the deceased's school mates, afforded a very touching sight as it wended its way to St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, Adelaide-street, where the Rev. Father W. J. McCallion, O.M.L., officiated, and thence to the place of interment, the Roman Catholic portion of the Fremantle Cemetery.
The chief mourners were:
* Mr. John Fahey (father), Mrs. Fahey (mother), Nellie and Mona Fahey (sisters), Tom and Jack Fahey (brothers), Mrs. D. Williams (aunt), Mr. D. Williams (uncle), and Miss M. Torpy (cousin).
Six girls, selected from St. Joseph's school, acted as pall bearers, viz., the Misses:
* Maude Nicholson Berna Metcalfe, Fanny Parsons, Molly Cridleon, Dolly McCorry, and Kathleen Hurley.
Many handsome wreaths, floral tributes, letters, and telegrams expressing sympathy were received by the parents. The Rev Father W. J. McCallion, O.M.I., also officiated at the grave.
The funeral arrangements were carried out by Messrs. Arthur E. Davies and Co., Fremantle

Mr FAHEY
was born in Macarthur, Vic. He leaves a Sister & 2 Brothers in that State. (Vic). He came to WA 36 years ago & for the last 26 years had Resided at Midland Junction, in which town he was well liked for his genial Personality & Sportsman like character. At one time an enthusiastic Cricketer, of late years he has devoted his time to Bowls & was a very popular & well Respected Member of the Midland Bowling Club. He leaves a wife, 6 Sons, 2 daughters & 2 grandchildren to mourn their loss.

* JOHN Fahey Catholic Priest
born: 3 Oct 1883, Glenough, Tipperary, Ireland, to Michael FAHEY, farmer, & Catherine RYAN. Educated by the Cistercians at Mount Melleray and at the Brignole Sale Seminary, Genoa, Italy, he was ordained priest in May 1907. Leaving almost immediately for the Australian mission he worked briefly in Perth at the cathedral and was then appointed to the parish of York and of Yarloop-Pinjarra in the south-east. Fahey was a manly type of priest well suited to the timber workers he served. He was an excellent sportsman, a fine shot and lived a rough unconventional life. Bush experience provided him with an excellent preparation for the Australian Imperial Force which he joined on 8 September 1914 as a chaplain, 4th class (captain). He was assigned to the 11th Battalion read rest of biography here

He enlisted from Perth, listing Laurel O'Neill as his next of kin. Francis was killed in a Flying Accident 6 Jan 1944 aged 31 (also killed was his Flight-Lieutenant, Stanley Charles HICKS). Francis was flying a de Havilland Mosquito, FB.Mk.IV which crashed close to Bourn airfield soon after take-off from Oakington, Cambridgeshire, where the squadron was based. He is buried Grave 13731 at Cambridge City Cemetery, United Kingdom

FAHEY
- An old and respected citizen of Fremantle, Mr. John Fahey, of 36 Hampton-road, Fremantle, and of Charlie Carter Ltd., Fremantle, died on Saturday last. A Requiem Mass was celebrated at St. Patrick's Church, Adelaide-street, Fremantle, yesterday morning, at which the Rev. Father M. Moore, O.M.I., was the celebrant. The remains were interred in the Roman Catholic portion of the Fremantle Cemetery in the afternoon. The Rev. Father H. Kearin conducted the service at the graveside. Mr. Fahey was born at Bundanoon, New South Wales, and came to Western Australia 40 years ago. In 1902 he opened the business of Fahey and Hutchinson, grocers, South Fremantle. The partnership continued for about 6 years and he afterwards carried on his own account until he sold the business about 13 years ago. He soon afterwards joined the service of Charlie Carter Ltd., Fremantle, and remained there until his death. His wife predeceased him 7 years ago. He leaves three sons, two daughters and six grandchildren to mourn their loss.
The chief mourners were: Messrs. T. and F. Fahey (sons), Mesdames P. Caplice (Monica Mary 'Mona' Fahey who married Patrick Lawrence Caplice, 7 May 1924 in Guildford) and R. Mulligan (daughters), Messrs. T. and D. Williams (nephews) and Miss P. Williams (niece).
The pallbearers were: Messrs. T. Fox, M.L.A., H. H. Stone (Charlie Carter Ltd.), V. Whitely (Orient Lodge, No. 2 R.A.O.B.), B. Oliver, G. H. Gallop, J. K. Walsh, J. Jarvis, M. Fell, P. Hancock and O. Fox.
