The Brynn Family
The Brynn family came from Merthyr Tydfil, Wales to Thames, New Zealand in 1876 on the Brodick Castle. They were Margaret,(nee Lewis),(aged 43), Robert,(aged 46), and their children; Mary,(aged 18), William,(aged 16), Harriet,(aged 12), Grace,(aged 10), and Margaret,(aged 8). Robert Brynn had been a coal miner in Merthyr Tydfil and had worked as a farm laborer in Pembrokeshire. In Thames he worked in a logging mill.
Mary Brynn married Thomas McLean,(from Glasgow) in 1876 and they had one child, Thomas William McLean, born on 30th August 1877. It is unknown what happened to Thomas McLean. He was a mariner and may have been lost at sea.
Mary married again in 1883 to Thomas Ross, a bush contractor who was born in Hamburg,Germany.
Their children were; Louisa Mary,1883, Wilhelmina,1885, Robert Godfrey,1886, William John,1888, Grace Margaret,1890, Harriet Elizabeth,1895 and Ludwig Augustus, 1898.
Louisa Mary married George Frederick McFlinn in 1907.Wilhelmina married Ronald Peter Binns in 1921.
Harriet Elizabeth married George Henry Moore in 1911.Grace Margaret married Alfred John McFlinn in 1914.
Mary's sister, Harriet Brynn married Edward Waite in 1884. Margaret Jane Brynn married John Christie in 1884. Grace Brynn married Frank Henry Pierce in 1886. I cannot find a record of William Brynn having married.
Thomas William McLean,(from Mary Brynn's first marriage), married Louisa Jane Paul in 1901. They had six children.
One of these was Joseph Robert Edward McLean, born 1905, married Irene Buckle. Her parents were; Annie Buckle and John William Buckle,(ship's steward). Annie, nee Nuttall, came from Bradford Manchester.
