Fanny Foster Caton (Cayton) Howe
Fanny, as she was called, lived in Vigo County, Indiana in the mid 1800's. Was her legal name Frances? Perhaps. She married Solomon Caton, and then Ira Howe. She had a son Joe Cayton, and a daughter, Eliza Ann Cayton when she married Ira. She then had three more children, Frances, Sam and Emma Howe. While Ira was away at the Civil War she abandoned her family and had another child on June 22, 1864, in Indiana. When Ira returned from the war he took his three Howe children and moved to Kansas; they never saw their mother again. He divorced Fanny in February of 1866, in order to re-marry. I'd like to find the identity of the child born in 1864 and I would also like to know if there were others, and if Fanny remarried.

Yes, that's what I suspected, a needle in a haystack. Thanks for the suggestions though, I will pursue them. All the best - Susan
