First One
Just joined the Sharman Circle.
My ancestors are mainly from the Suffolk area - i.e. Walsham le Willows, Hoxne, Rickinghall, Gislam and Westhorpe. The other branch is from Newton-upon-Ouse and from the Rothwell area but some are appearing from Lancashire.
In point of fact the family name would be WEAVERS but in 1796 James Weavers married Elizabeth Sharman and they used the surname Sharman-Weavers and sometimes Weavers-Sharman. Their son, another James, married Ann Walton and they tended to use the Weavers Sharman but it was their surviving son, Philip, who dropped the Weavers but used both as aliases - as seen on his forms at the Bury Goal.
From then on the Weavers was used as a middle name but we became Sharmans.
