I have been trying to find names of the Fleener men that lived in Indiana, that may have served in the Civil War myself. It seems that my Grandmothers father Isaac Monroe would have only been 23 when the war broke out. I can't find if he was a soldier or not. The only stories I have heard of my soldier is Asa Mason and David Mason that volunteered in the 42nd Indiana, company F. Our Asa was injured at Stones River and returned home but his older brother continued to the Sea. I have their story, but I am interested to see if my Fleener relatives served. They are descended from William Henry Harrison Fleener: Isaac M. 1838, my Gr Grandfather, would have been 23 years old. He was married and had only two children by 1865. Farmer in Warrick or Pike County, Indiana.
He had 1st cousins that were his contempories, Andrew Jackson Fleener,b.1843 and John J. Fleener b.1847. My Grandmother was Eliza E. Fleener, youngest daughter of Isaac Monroe Fleener. She married John J Mason Sr. and they lived in Pike and later Gibson County Indiana. Other cousins might be William Julian 1834, Isaac Julian 1838 and James U. McMurtry 1841 all found in Warrick County Indiana. Can you help in my search?
Their are many Fleenor's on the union side, in Indiana. Look on Fold3 , just search for Fleenor's. You will be surprised at the number that's comes up .
You will find about 75-80.
Good luck
