I too am researching the Flood line. My former husband is descended from George Henry Flood (1844 - 1884).
Although I have got back as far as Adam Flood and his wife Elizabeth, I am not sure that Elizabeth Bartley is the correct one. It seems that there were two Adam and Elizabeths in the area at the same time. George Flood was baptised in South Stoneham 22 Nay 1814 (Family Search Batch No C13757-1). Also in that batch are Richard 1810 and Elizabeth 1812. George married Elizabeth Tubb and Elizabeth married John Tubb her brother.
Meanwhile in St Marys, Southampton another Adam and Elizabeth baptised 7 children, (Family Search Batch No I03816-0) from 1801 onwards. As Adam and Elizabeth Bartley were married in 1801 I think it is safe to say that these St Marys baptisms refer to their family and not the South Stoneham family.
I too had assumed that the Adam Flood I was interested in was the blacksmith from Kinsgland Square but I don't think he is.
Back to the drawing board - unless anyone knows anything different!
Barbara (formerly Southampton now in Dorset)
Hi
Barbara again!
Having explained exactly why I think there were two Adam and Elizabeth Floods I have now changed my mind!
On closer examination the two sets of children do not overlap with each other. It appears that Adam and Elizabeth had 4 children between 1801 and 1807 who were baptised at St Marys. They then had 3 children between 1810 and 1814 who were baptised in South Stomeham and then returned to St Mary where they had 4 more children 1817 - 1823. Sorry if I have caused any confusion!
