For my children I decided to research my and consequently their family tree firstly through my father. Due to a number of circumstances/coincidences I changed my priority to that of the history of my husband's (and their father) family.
His family goes back to Joseph TUZO, transported to Australia on the first fleet. Joseph had 2 daughters with Rebecca GOLSBY, one of which was Johanna GOLSBY TUZO who in turn had a daughter, Jessica Australia BAYLISS who in 1877 married a William COWELL(born in Bathurst in 1855).
My husband's family have always believed the Cowell's came from the Isle of Man so I am looking to find out more about this link

I have not tried to search for George COWELL's ancestors I just do the easy bits. Jan
It pleases me to see other members toss that 'Clayton' bottle away and take a peek at the real records to assist others. Searching the records does take longer, but you know where the information came from and it can easily be rechecked by others.
Help others if you can, but only when you know you can. That's my motto.
Hi Fran12
I am currently researching the Bayliss family (inc. Tuzo) and have relatives researching other branches of the family including Cowell. I also have original photos of Priscilla and Joanna Tuzo - if you are interested, I could copy them for you & also perhaps help with information re other members of the family.
Cheers

Thanks. I think I sent you an email in response. Joseph Tuzo transported on first fleet. Relationship with Rebecca Golsby had Priscilla & Johanna (love a copy of the photos). After Rebecca's death in 1831 they went to live in the Bathurst region with William Golsby, Rebecca's son from her marriage prior to transportation. Priscilla married John Bayliss and Johanna married his brother Benjamin all at Holy Trinity church, Kelso. My husband's connection is through Johanna and her daughter Jessica Australia Bayliss who married William Cowell. Thanks to Janilye above I learned that William is the son of George Cowell who was born in Essex in 1814 and was transported to Australia, ending up in the Bathurst region. I cannot thank you and all who help enough for your generosity
Hello Fran12.
I am new to this website and came across it because of my interest in Priscilla Tuzo married to John Baylis. I am connected to this family tree via Priscilla and John's daughter Rebecca. I notice you may have received some photos of Priscilla and Johanna from Chris49. I would be delighted if you could share the photos with me. I already have quite a lot of information but photos for these generations are in such short supply. Many thanks in advance if you are able to help.
Cheers
