You know, i travelled over to the Belfast records office back in 2003 from Australia, and was sitting there for half the day going through microfische film -I turned up nothing! So this is brilliant.I can't thank you enough. Now i just have to find out if i have any family left in Northern Ireland. I am not sure what to advise. Ireland was a united country until independence in around 1920 ? under British rule. Most records would have been held in Dublin until the split. Unfortunately a lot of record were destroyed in a fire in 1917.

The only thing I can suggest is you google for BMDs, Census, electoral rolls in both southern and northern Ireland. A few sites you can look at.

I know nothing about family research in Ireland. I live near Liverpool. My only connection to Ireland is an Irish daughter-in-law and my son is a professor in a university there.
