Hi all i have been able to find so far is that he died before April 1835 as on his son Francis Benjamin apprenticeship Indenture is states that his father Frances Schrader late of Chatham Place, Locks Fields, Newington, Surrey. Spanish leather dresser, deceased
I will keep looking
Thanks Markav. Yes, I have that information. But it seems hard to find more about FBS's dad and where he came from! He probably died 1834 – his last son James, was baptised 2 Nov 1834 (born 3/9/34) – but I can't even find a record for that. Hope you can find more; I'm stuck in NZ!
Thanks Edmondsallan. An interesting possibility [below]. Francis did have a son called John Henry, which links his [possible] dad and his son.
If Francis was born near St Anne's [to Johan and Elizabeth] would it be unusual to move to south of the river [where Francis married and lived]?
Maybe Johan was born in Europe and came to England for work? Did this happen much in mid-18th century? Can I discover if he also worked with leather?
I can only find deaths for people named 'John', so maybe he changed his name to fit in better? And why can't I find a death record for Francis?
So many questions!
Suggestion:
Name Johan Heinrich Schrader
Spouse's Name Elizabeth Gill
Event Date 09 Nov 1772(marriage)
Event Place Saint Anne Soho,Westminster,London,England
Note(this would make Francis about 20 yrs when he married. One of his children could have the 'Christian' name of his grand-father, a common practice in those times. These approx dates means grandparents could be somewhere in 'born - 1745–1755 + married around 1760–1772. But where – is another query ???
