Frederick Johnston from Enniskillen, Northern Ireland

Journal by Lynners

I am researching Frederick Johnston (1770-1874) who came here (United States) from Ireland in 1803-1807. He settled in Bath Township, Greene County, Ohio. He was married to Mary White. His daughter was Catherine Barton Johnston who married Reason Funk. Frederick's father was Arthur Johnston (1650-1811). Arthur was married to Catherine Barton.

Frederick's forebears came from Moffat,Dumfries, Scotland. They were originally from Annandale. I have yet to make the connection to Castle Lochwood and the border reivers of that area. Family lore has it that they were from there. Also, there was an "e" at the end of their name, making it Johnstone.

I have made several trips to Greene County, Ohio over the last 2 years. I have found Arthur's will, Frederick and James' (Frederick's brother)naturalization record.

This picture is of Frederick Johnston.
