Trying to find definitive records about Gaius. Last heard of in Foxcroft, Penobscot, ME....Grantor/grantee Index Penobscot. 19 Jul 1832 Foxcroft land, living in Garland....last record found 22 Dec 1832 land sold to Nathan Tobie,brother in law.Gaius and Lavinia published and married 1828 in Montville ..she of Montville, he of Liberty.
Parents Asa and Ruth Soule..various residences inc Rome,Garland,ME. Gaius and wife Lavinia Tobie and daughter Helen Augusta M Soule ,b 1829' may be living with Asa in 1830 Garland census. Helen shows up in 1845 in Montville, Waldo, ME marrying Cleveland Bachelder, he of Exeter, ME. Lavinia's family in Montville
Cleveland and Helen move to Menasha, WI. No record of Lavinia until 1855 when she appears as "female" in Bachelder household. Though Lavinia is living with Helen and Cleveland( 1860) and later grand son Luther Cleveland Bachelder, she is never identified as Helen's mother. This is serious break in establishing family line.

Would like to find Gaius' death....proof that Helen is daughter of Gaius and Lavina.......Or statement that Helen is Lavinia's daughter.

Have used above records, Montville VR, History of Garland, Rome VR, what records that exist from Liberty and Garland, cemeteries of ME inc Foxcroft..Dover, Montville, Garland, census, Helen's land records Modoc Co.CA where Grandmother Sowell is mentioned only as "invalid mother"
