Looking for any info. about the above families of whom several came to New Zealand.

In particular James McLauchlan b.1834 who married Ann Galletly on 26 Nov. 1858 at Perth. James was 24 (labourer) & lived in St. Magdalenes, Perth. They came to Cust, New Zealand.

Jame's parents: Father: James, Mother: Margaret McGregor. Does anyone know of James's (father) siblings & where they were born.

Evagean Publishing ... scroll down to see entry for "To Victoria, Australia and Beyond - The story of Alexander McKenzie Allan and Margaret Galletly and family from Perthshire, Scotland.(488pp)".

Glentanner passenger records - London to Lyttleton NZ mentions a GALLETLY family.

Family Album and Genealogy of Eva Mary Berriman mentions that on an 1845 report GALLETLY was one of the common surnames in Kinclaven, Perth, Scotland.

I see that you are a rootschatter as well. Good stuff.

You might have to purchase marriage cert, hoping that it will contain parents names of the bride and groom for confirmation and peace of mind.

Thank you for all that info. Alison.

Peter Galletly who married Marjorie McLauchlan is related to Ann Galletly. I am trying to find out if James McLauchlan snr. is related to John McLauchlan born 1801 Dunkeld, Perthshire who came to New Zealand on the Cornubia in 1855. Is he a brother, cousin or no connection except perhaps from way back. John too had a son, James McLauchlan born in Perth but he (father) married May Milne born Cargill. The Galletlys were sponsored to NZ by eith John McL snr. or his son also John.
Thank you.

Glad to be of some assistance to you Tiffany. By the way I am just starting to research my MILNE ancestors who were from Aberdeen, Scotland - one place name says Crimondgarth but not sure of correct spelling - marriage connections with the BUCHAN clan. See my journal/s.

Hi Tiffany,
I see you entered this in 2007. I have only just stumbled across this listing.
My husband is descended from James McLauchlin and Ann Galletly, who came out to New Zealand onthe Clontarf in 1860. His grandmother was Barbara Mclauchlan (their daughter) marr William Anderson.
I have been trying in vain to find out more about James McLauchlan's parents and siblings.
Iain Averis has been doing the McLauchlan Family Tree for some little while & I have a copy of the tree as he gave it to me, but it doesn't go futher back that said James. The earlier generation on it is Alexander Gallelty. I have only just caught up with Iain again, at a funeral - he is now living in Fielding and isn't getting any younger. I'm hoping that we can go over there sometime to catch up with him properly, as we are living in Masterton.
I would love to know if you have found the information you are looking for. I'm desperate to know if the James McLauchlan who came out on the Cornubia is the same family.
