Gardiners in Ireland
We have traced this Anglo-Irish family back to about 1700. We are sure that some were in Laois. In the 1790's two Gardiner brothers married two Stoker sisters. We have fair records for the family of John Gardiner who married Elizabeth Stoker. However we would appreciate some help with the records for Thomas Gardiner who married Mary Stoker in Maryborough, Queens County on Jan. 19th, 1795. We expect that they had children before he became bankrupt in 1823.
Can anyone tell us:
Who were the children of Thomas Gardiner and Mary Stoker? names? birth dates? What happened to them?
When and where did Mary Stoker die? I am told that she was born in 1766.
When and where did her husband Thomas Gardiner die?
The Stoker sisters were related distantly to Bram Stoker.
We have research the Gardiners for the last 8 years.
Yes I do know about the Luke Gardiner family of Dublin. However since no one seems to know his origins it is unlikely that we will ever find a connection with that family.
My husband has done extensive yDNA tests. There is a remote connection with the Bermonsley, England Gardiners. So there is a remote connection with Sir Thomas Gardiner who was the attorney general to Charles I. But we do not know the exact connection. The family legend is that Charles II gave land in Ireland to the family. Try as we might we have not been able to verify that. Can anyone help?
