There are a few George Bremner but have found one with an M Patterson so this might be him. Scottish 1871 Census living at Badentyre, Monquhitter, Aberdeenshire

Margaret Patterson, grand-daughter, 2 (1869) Monquhitter

No grandchildren would have been born yet in 1871 and the children and G.children are New Zealand resident. However I will follow up on George of Monquitter and see where he goes.

Also have discovered that George and his wife Jane (Maiden Surname - Sandison) arrived in NZ aboard the Lancashire Witch in Oct of 1863. They had married in Wick Caithness in June of 1863. George is the son of Alexander Bremner and Janet Reiach, he has two brothers John & Alexander both of whom arrived in New Zealand in 1879 aboard the Waikato to Auckland and other members of the extended family. Mother Janet Reiach also arrived on the Waikato. His sister Mary (married name Rugg) arrived in Waimate in 1875 with husband Andrew and their children. I have been trying to connect the two families and now have finally managed to connect the dots. I have further information on the families if anyone would like.

PS: Also aboard was James Patterson age 7 who went on to marry the daughter (Annie Harriet) of George and Jane Bremner.
